International, multilingual, high-performance: A centralized system architecture with middleware, PIM, and Shopware 6
TimeTEX Hermedia Verlag is an international provider of educational, learning, and support materials for schools, kindergartens, and therapeutic institutions. The company distributes its products worldwide through numerous country-specific online shops, in multiple languages and across various sales channels.
With strong international growth, the demands on the existing e-commerce and system landscape increased significantly. A large number of country shops, multiple language versions, a high density of plugins, and several connected systems made it necessary to establish a new, clearly structured and future-proof architecture. In addition, there was previously no centralized Product Information Management (PIM) system in place to maintain product data consistently, across languages, and across systems.

For the TimeTEX project, we implemented several key components in parallel. At the heart of the new architecture is our middleware 426Connect, which acts as the technical hub between all systems and ensures stable, high-performance, and scalable data exchange.
Through 426Connect, we connected the shop with the ERP system, the newly introduced PIM system Pimcore, and the Amazon marketplace. Pimcore was implemented as the central platform for managing and maintaining product data. Product information, prices, stock levels, and orders are now automatically synchronized and consistently distributed across all channels.
At the same time, the platform was migrated from Shopware 5 to Shopware 6, including all existing structures, content, and custom extensions. Today, the new shop manages 20 sales channels, 11 language versions, and more than 60 plugins. In addition to established third-party plugins, several custom plugins were successfully adapted for Shopware 6 and further developed.
The result is a powerful, internationally scalable e-commerce platform that combines data control, automation, and flexibility, providing TimeTEX with a solid foundation for continued growth and the expansion into additional sales channels.
